Alternatively to copy the address:
Tap bitcoin address starting bc1q...
Tap YES to copy the address to your clipboard
After bitcoin has been sent to your address, a incoming transaction will appear in your transaction list, as follows:
You may need to refresh your wallet by pulling down from the top of the screen for the transaction to appear.
By default when tapping the Receive button, you will be presented with a Native Segwit address:
Address Type | Script Type | Addresses start with |
---|---|---|
Native Segwit | P2WPKH |
bc1q... |
Most, but not all bitcoin services and bitcoin wallets, support sending to Native Segwit addresses.
Samourai Wallet supports receiving to two additional address types:
Address Type | Script Type | Addresses start with |
---|---|---|
Segwit Compatibility | P2SH |
3... |
Legacy | P2PKH |
1... |
If a sending party does not support sending to Native Segwit addresses, instead carry out the following to generate a Segwit Compatibility or Legacy address:
Tap Receive
Tap Advanced
Tap Address Type then change to Segwit Compatibility
or Legacy
Samourai Wallet supports BIP21. This means you can generate a receive address with the bitcoin amount you want to receive also embedded within the QR code
Like Samourai Wallet, bitcoin wallets which support this functionality can simply scan the QR code, and both the address and bitcoin amount will be automatically populated for convenience.
Tap Receive
Tap Advanced
Enter BTC or sat amount
Then share the QR code with the sending party.
Each time you tap Receive you will be presented with a new receive address.
A receive address never expires. It is always valid.
For example: if you share a receive address with someone and they send bitcoin to it 1 year later, the bitcoin would sill be received to the address, after which you will be able to spend it.
It is possible to receive multiple payments to 1 x receive address. For privacy reasons this is NOT recommended. Instead you should generate a new receive address for every payment you wish to receive.
Receiving directly to your PayNym (or "reusable payment code") doesn't require you to share a bitcoin address with the sending party, nor are you required to be actively online to accept payment this way. This feature is perfect for receiving regular payments and donations, as each time a payment is received it arrives to a new address.
Requirements:
The sending party must use a bitcoin wallet which supports PayNyms / BIP47 Reusable Payment Codes.
The sending party must first CONNECT to your PayNym. This broadcasts what is termed the "notification transaction" and is a prerequisite to them sending you bitcoin.

Stowaway is the name given to one of the Cahoots spends offered by Samourai Wallet. In a Stowaway transaction you collaborate with the sender's PayNym from within the Samourai Wallet app, and make a coinjoin when receiving bitcoin to your wallet. This type of transaction makes it extremely difficult for any third-party observer to determine how much bitcoin was sent from the PayNym sender to the PayNym receiver (you).
Requirements:
The sending party must use a bitcoin wallet which supports PayNyms and Stowaway.
You must already have some bitcoin in your wallet.
You and the sender must be online, with your bitcoin wallet open, and carry out some simple manual steps to allow for the Stowaway transaction to be automatically organised, constructed, and broadasted.
